Jason Belmonte is one of the world's leading ten-pin bowlers. He was born in Orange, Australia, on 29 July 1983. Jason rolled his first ball at age 18 months and won his first tournament when he was 4.
By the age of 5 Jason had a average of 118 and a high game of 175.
In 2000, Jason became the first Junior Australian to shoot 300 overseas and in the same year, he took out five Gold medals at the Junior National Championships. In 2001, he was selected in the Youth Australia team, and also held a place in this team in 2002 and 2004
In 2001 Jason was the Australia Day Orange Junior Sportsperson of the year and he took out the Senior Award in 2002 along with the Orange Sportsperson of the Year award, which he repeated in 2003.
In 2002, Jason won one Gold, one Silver and two Bronze medals at the Commonwealth Championships in Scotland and a Silver medal at the WTBA World Youth Championships in Thailand. In that year, Jason was selected in the Australian Open men's team, where he remains to the present time.
2004 saw Jason take three gold, one silver and one bronze in the Asian Youth FIQ in Hong Kong and he followed this up in the World Youth FIQ titles in Guam with a gold in the Singles, a gold in all events and a silver in the World Tenpin Masters.
In 2005 Jason began to travel around the world competing on a more regular basis. He won the Kuwait Open and had numerous top 5 finishes in Asia and in Europe, plus 3 major wins and a top 5 finish in all but 1 event at home in Australia.
2006 saw Jason win on the European Bowling Tour, the Brunswick Euro Challenge held in Greece was a major on the tour. He also won again on the Asian Tour, winning the Kuwait Open back to back and finished runner at the Bahrain Open the week after, then 3rd at the Aalborg Open in Denmark the week after Bahrain.
To date in 2008, Jason has bowled 31 perfect 300 games and has appeared three times on the Matchroom World Masters where in 2005 he placed 3rd, in 2006 he ran 5th & in 2007 he has won.
In 2005 he made history by bowling the first ever 300 game in the Matchroom World Masters in his first ever game in the tournament. He then once more proved that lightning does strike twice in the same place and shot another 300 game in the final against Paul Moor to win. This event is open to only 16 invited players from around the world
Jason also smashed the world record at the world championships for the highest 6 game series in an event, he bowled 1546, an average of 257.66
Jason created history by been the first non European to lead the European rankings mid way through 2006 and he is the first ever bowler to have qualified for the World Ranking Masters in 2 separate zones (Europe and Asia) finishing 7th in both. The top 8 of each zone compete at the World Ranking Masters.
Korea held the Men's World Championships and Jason once again won medals for his country. a Bronze in the doubles with partner Jarrod Lean and a Bronze in the masters.
